Responsibility for the life and work of the school is shared between the Local Education Authority, the Governing Body, the Headteacher and staff. The Governing Body is usually made up of representatives from the L.E.A. Parish Council, parents and staff. A copy of the School Profile is available here and a hard copy is kept in school. Meetings are held termly or more frequently if necessary. Minutes of these meetings are available in school for you to see and a complete list can be seen on request. The Governing Body is responsible for monitoring the curriculum, directing the allocation of budget and over seeing all aspects of school life.

The Stanbridge Lower School P.T.F.A. raises considerable funds for the school each year. In the millennium year they completed an environmental area, which is used for the teaching of science, literacy and art; it enhances many other areas of school life. The homes for mini beasts, the pond, bog area and hedges have many uses in exploring the environment and in providing ‘hands on’ experience in key subject areas. More recently the hard-court area called ‘The Rosie Court’ was part funded by the PTFA and this has improved our sporting facilities enormously. Money is raised through a full programme of enjoyable activities involving the children, their parents and the local community. Currently the PTFA are fundraising to resource ICT in the classrooms.

Funding is also used to buy equipment in school and pay for visits and journeys, visiting speakers and many other important aspects of school life.

As a parent you are automatically a member but if you would like to become fully involved please speak to a member of the committee whose names will be supplied on request.

Stanbridge has an active student voice. We encourage the children to join the School Council to help improve the teaching, learning and school environment. The School Council is made up from a class representative from each year group. The children are elected annually by their fellow class mates.

Stanbridge Lower School is a registered charity (Number 1049285)
